Dutch-Canadian Sinologist, based in Toronto, Canada, translator Daoist Morning and Evening Liturgy, member of the Daoist Translation Committee, Daoist practitioner. Initiate Huashan sect. Educated at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, where I studied under Professors Kristofer Schipper, Barend ter Haar, Eric Zurcher and Wilt Idema. 1990 National Chengchi University in Taipeh, 1992-1993 University of Xiamen, PRC, anthropological fieldwork into popular religion among societies of fishermen in the Quanzhou Bay area, co-sponsored by Director Wang Lianmao of the Museum of Overseas Communications History. 1995 to 1998 I worked as an editor for the Dutch magazine China Nu (China Now). More recently I have spent time and lived in temples on several Daoist mountains, the most extensive stay six months in Henan. In 2018 I was initiated as a member of the Huashan school of Quanzhen Daoism. You will find my Dutch translation of the Daoist Morning and Evening Liturgy on my website: sandervink.org. Daoist practise includes Daoist Qigong Program under Eva Wong, Wudang taijiquan under Master Zhou Xuanyun and Inner Alchemy (Neidan) in the Xianxue tradition.
