Roméo Desmarais III (he/them) is proudly/loudly Queer, 2Spirit, Francophone, and Muskrat Métis du Grand Lac Ste-Claire. His work is forthcoming in Great Lakes Review’s Special Indigenous Issue, MockingOwl Roost's Special Edition "All the Colors", and “back-going” in Synkroniciti Magazine’s Intersections Issue, Oddball Magazine (twice), and more (watch for my detailed publications list here, coming soon). Also a singer-songwriter, their epic folk song about a homeless man, “John McCauldron”, has garnered attention from CBC Radio. Some other hats Roméo wears: multimedia artist, music therapist, social activist, pianist, travel enthusiast… London Ontario, Canada is Homo Sweet Homo. He's addicted to his bf, backgammon, their cats, caffeine, conversation, alliteration, and run-on-sentences. Performances BLAST OFF by bellowing: "I… AM… RoMeO-HoMeO ô£ tHę MåRtïÃñS >{:)!!!"—his pseudonym since 1991. Their relatively recent decision to start a career as a poet was tremendously validated and encouraged upon hearing their mentor, January Rogers, say: "Romeo's time is now!"
