While studying there, she authored and published a peer-reviewed article titled “Assessing Microfinance as a Means of Socioeconomic Empowerment for Vulnerable Women in Jordan.” Her research examined how economic initiatives can shape opportunities and long-term stability for women in underserved communities. Erin continued her legal studies at the University at Buffalo School of Law. She served on the Buffalo Law Review, contributing to legal scholarship through research and editing. She was awarded the Robert J. Connelly Trial Technique Award for her performance in trial advocacy coursework. In addition, she was recognized as a James Kent Scholar and served as a Property Fellow, supporting other students in their academic development. During law school, she gained practical experience through internships at the Erie County District Attorney’s Office and in the Attorneys for Children Unit at the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo. Erin Welsh also served as a New York State Bar Association Family Law Section Fellow, strengthening her commitment to family law practice. Erin Sydney Welsh, Buffalo, volunteers as a judge for mock trials and moot court competitions. She was born and raised in Western New York and lives in Williamsville with her spouse. Outside of her work as an Attorney, she is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who continues to write and perform music.
